Janashakthi PLC in partnership with the Forest department of Sri Lanka initiated this long-term project in December 2008.
The objective of this initiative is to recognize our responsibility to promote environmental conservation and sustainability. The project includes community and livelihood development and maintenance of trees planted in the selected area.
Since its launch in 2008, the project currently involves planting and maintenance of 50,000 Teak trees covering approximately 300 acres of land and benefiting over 20 families in the area.
Members of the community in the Helambagaswewa area who are involved in the project are directly benefited though community engagement and livelihood development as the project significantly contributes to their income generation.
