Janashakthi adds more colour to Jaffna
Massive promotional drive to enhance insurance services

Speaking on the services of Janashakthi Insurance activities in the Jaffna peninsula, Mr. Liyanage said that the Sports Festival organised by “Tharunyayata Hetak” from 21 – 25 October was a resounding success. Nearly 60 teams participated in the six-a-side soft ball cricket tournament for the Janashakthi Trophy. From start to finish, the festival displayed a keen spirit of competitiveness and sportsmanship. Not concluding with this, ‘Tharunyayata Hetak” has further planned to build ten new Volleyball Courts in Jaffna for the improvement of the sport. |

A massive Musical Show was held at the Alfred Duraiyappa Stadium following the sports festival. During the Musical Show, the winning teams, First Place winners - Carmel Boys and Second Place winners - Star Sports, were awarded cash prizes and trophies. The prizes were presented to the winners by Mr. Ravi Liyanage, General Manager (Sales and Marketing), and, Mr. Paddy Weerasekera, Head of Marketing, Janashakthi Insurance PLC. |

Spearheading the array of stars at the musical show at the Alfred Duraiyappa was Vijaya Anthony, a leading music director from India. The musical show, which commenced at 7.30 pm concluded at 1.30 am with an audience of over two lakhs of people. The musical show featured top stars such as Vijaya Anthony, Shoba Chandrasekar and Sangeetha Keerthina along with over 15 Indian artistes, and also Bhathiya & Santhush, Iraj and Shakthi from Sri Lanka. The crowd was also entertained by the famed Indian duo, Sarathkumar and Radhika. Chief Guests Minister Hon. Douglas Devananda and Chief Minister of the Northern Province Major Chandrasiri together with the Jaffna Government Agent Mr. K. Ganesh graced this event. |

Over 100 staff members of Janashakthi branches in Chavakachcheri, Chunnakam and Nelliadi in the Jaffna district met thousands of people advising them on the advantages of insurance. A special three-wheeler promotion was carried out where owners were given a special sticker. Displaying the sticker on the three-wheeler entitled them to a Rs. 100,000/- accidental cover. It was not only offered to Janashakthi insurance policy holders but to all. Over 1200 of these stickers were given out during this special promotion. |

A novel shop-to-shop campaign was also launched during this period to educate shop owners on the risks involved with fire and burglary. Every shop owner was given a sticker with shop blessings by Janshakthi Insurance. In the evening, key towns were able to witness popular movies on giant screens. By this the Jaffna population was able to enjoy watching a movie free of charge. |

Janashakthi Insurance PLC as a part of its 15th anniversary programme arranged to give employment opportunities to a thousand youth from the North and East who are interested in pursuing a career in insurance. Up to now over 500 youth have secured employment in 13 Janashakthi Insurance branches in the North and East. |

Janashakthi Insurance PLC has always been involved in many activities in the North and East including sports and other initiatives. One such activity is the ‘Battle of North’ Cricket Match between St. John’s College and Jaffna Central College which has been sponsored by Janashakthi since 2004 . |
