‘Janashakthi – National Civilian Bravery Awards 2017’: Promoting the Value of Selflessness across the Island
Janashakthi Insurance PLC, a leading Insurance provider in Sri Lanka, continues its partnership with the Foundation of Civilian Bravery Sri Lanka for the 'Janashakthi – National Civilian Bravery Awards 2017’. Conducted for the 23rd year, these awards will recognize civilians who voluntarily risk their lives while saving, or attempting to save others from peril.
Supported by the belief that bravery has no ethnic, social or religious barriers, the Foundation of Civilian Bravery Sri Lanka invites civilians from across Sri Lanka to apply for, or nominate their fellow citizens, for acts of bravery committed between the 1st of January 2016 – 31st of December 2016. Having identified the importance of inculcating and promoting selflessness as a value in the community, Janashakthi is extending its support towards this worthy national cause for the second consecutive year, bringing to light acts of bravery committed by the unsung heroes of Sri Lanka.
“We are once again happy to welcome the support of one of Sri Lanka’s leading Insurers, Janashakthi Insurance. With their valuable assistance, we will be able to recognise ordinary citizens who commit noble and extraordinary acts of valour to save the life of another. These ‘unsung heroes’ of Sri Lanka deserve to have their acts of bravery celebrated on a national platform as an example to others. We invite you all to participate in this worthy endeavour by nominating either yourself or any individual who is applicable before the 31st of March,” said Kasun Chandraratne, Founder / President of the Foundation of Civilian Bravery Sri Lanka.
Applications for the 'Janashakthi – National Civilian Bravery Awards 2017' can now be collected from the Foundation of Civilian Bravery Sri Lanka and at any of the 109 Janashakthi branches located island-wide. The Foundation will be accepting applications until 31st March 2017, after which the winners will be selected by a distinguished panel of judges, based on the supporting evidence submitted with the application, as well as face to face interviews.
“At Janashakthi, we consider it a privilege to be able to partner an endeavour of this significance that is purely intended to pay tribute to selfless brave civilians in collaboration with the Foundation of Civilian Bravery Sri Lanka.
